Those hunters in the know regard the Eagle Cap Wilderness area of northeast Oregon as a "sleeper" area without the recognition it deserves. The new Oregon state record archery bull was taken in these mountains in 2004 along with half a dozen others that were nearly as big. Experienced hunters will tell you that even bigger bulls are available, and most predict a new state record soon.We offer Drop Camp hunts, Supplied Camp hunts, Guided Hunts (Upon Availability) and Deluxe Camps. Bow Season hunts are for any bull, and it is also possible to purchase bear and cougar tags. Packing out the day after your hunt ends is on a first come first serve basis and some camps need to be packed out a day or two following the season.
We hunt in the Minam, Catherine Creek, Pine Creek, Keating, Snake and Imnaha units and Tags may be purchased over the counter up to the day prior to the start of bow season, not the start of your hunt.
Camp minimum occupancy requirements are based on location(s) of the camp.
Bow hunts are seven days of hunting with a day to pack-in and a day to pack-out. Packing in a few days prior to the season is recommended. Packing out the day after your hunt ends is on a first come first serve basis and some camps need to be packed out a day or two following the hunt.
Drop Camp Hunts: We will pack you and your gear to your choice of sites. You provide all the gear.
$1,000.00 per hunter.
Supplied Camp Hunts: We pack you in to one of our camps that are already setup and waiting. We furnish the cook tent, wood stove(s), lanterns, table, & propane cook stove. Items you need to bring are: pop up tents for sleeping, sleeping bag, foam pad, food, cots, chairs, propane for cooking stove and lanterns, cooking implements and utensils along with your hunting and personal gear. With your pop up tents you will have the ability to have overnight excursions if you wish.
Price: $1,200 Base Camp plus $800.00 per hunter.
Guided Hunts: We offer these hunts on a limited basis. These are one-on-two guided hunts, and we provide everything: the guide, cook, food, the camp, and all the necessary camp gear. All you need to bring is your personal gear. Your guide will help you dress game, and there are no trophy fees or extra charges. Booking these hunts well in advance is recommended.
$5,500.00 per hunter.
Please note: Pack items are limited to 125 pounds per one mule. 2 mules per hunter for a supplied camp and 1 mule for guided camps; Drop Camps allow 2 mules per hunter. If you have excess weight, please contact the packing station ahead of time and you may utilize additional mules at the cost of $125/day. If you exceed the weight limitation and have not provided adequate notice, we reserve the right to pack in excess supplies on a date of our choosing at a cost of $350/day for each packer and two mules required to carry excess weight. Please note that no one item over 75 lbs. in weight or over 8,000 cubic inches in size can be packed in. Load limits on pack items are strictly enforced and may not be altered in any way.
Wilderness hunting is a matter of grit and determination in facing the elements, but preparation can go a long way in securing a positive outcome. Before you begin your outdoor adventure with us, take a few minutes to understand the area in which you are going to be hunting. Dress in layers, have good broken in boots with a rubber sole, pack light and be prepared. This will be a wilderness adventure you soon won’t forget.
