![]() Bull Elk Hunting - 1st Season - Oct 27-Oct 31, 2010The Wallowa Mountains of Northeastern Oregon have long been known for their exceptional deer and elk hunting. Falling almost entirely within the Eagle Cap Wilderness, these mountains have been home to many record book animals. Wilderness means no roads and less hunter pressure and therefore better hunting.We hunt in the Minam, Catherine Creek, Pine Creek, Keating, Snake and Imnaha units and all 1st Season Elk hunts are draw hunts. First Season Elk hunts are five days of hunting with a day to pack-in and a day to pack-out. Packing in a few days prior to the season is recommended. Packing out the day after your hunt ends is on a first come first serve basis and some camps need to be packed out a day or two following the hunt. Give us a satellite or cell phone call and we will come and pack-out your game. We offer Drop Camp hunts and Supplied Camp hunts. Camps are an average of 3-8 miles into the wilderness and these are 5-day hunts. Drop Camp Hunts: We will pack you and your gear to your choice of sites. You provide all the gear. We have a 4-hunter minimum for our camps. If you have fewer than 4 or more than 4, please email or call us for a quote. $1,100.00 Drop Camp per hunter. Supplied Camp Hunt: We furnish the cook/sleeping tent(s), wood stoves, lanterns, table, & propane cook stove. You bring your sleeping bag, foam pad, food, cots, chairs, and propane for cooking stove and lanterns, also cooking implements and utensils along with your hunting and personal gear. $1,500.00 Supplied Camp per hunter. We have a 4-hunter minimum for our camps. If you have less than 4 or more than 4 please email or call us for a quote. Guided Hunts: We offer these hunts on a very limited basis. These are one-on-two guided hunts, and we provide everything: the guide, cook, wrangler, food, the camp, and all the necessary camp gear. All you need to bring is your personal gear. Your guide will help you dress game, and there are no trophy fees or extra charges. Booking these hunts well in advance is recommended. $5,500.00 per hunter. We have a 2 hunter minimum, but if you have more hunters who would like to join, please call for a quote. License and Tag: Non-resident guaranteed tags are available on first come, first serve basis and are priced at $900.00 for license and tag. Tags must be purchased by March 15 accompanied by necessary information. The application deadline for all draw hunts is May 15th. Please note: Pack items are limited to 125 pounds per one mule. 2 mules per hunter for a supplied camp and 1 mule for guided camps; Drop Camps allow 2 mules per hunter. If you have excess weight, please contact the packing station ahead of time and you may utilize additional mules at the cost of $125/day. If you exceed the weight limitation and have not provided adequate notice, we reserve the right to pack in excess supplies on a date of our choosing at a cost of $350/day for each packer and two mules required to carry excess weight. Please note that no one item over 75 lbs. in weight or over 8,000 cubic inches in size can be packed in. Load limits on pack items are strictly enforced and may not be altered in any way. Wilderness hunting is a matter of grit and determination in facing the elements, but preparation can go a long way in securing a positive outcome. Before you begin your outdoor adventure with us, take a few minutes to understand the area in which you are going to be hunting. Dress in layers, have good broken in boots with a rubber sole, pack light and be prepared. This will be a wilderness adventure you soon won’t forget.
